Studio Scenes of a Work in Progress

A rare summer afternoon alone yielded time again to work on the triptych...

In light of recent events in Egypt and the uprisings across the Middle East, I created this painting to represent the strength and unity of women on the journey to a peaceful world.

I painted women and children supporting the pyramid shape that surrounds them. They preserve their culture and the foundation of society which is family.

They work together, unified and strong.

The roots on their robes, although preservers of culture, are also confining the people, causing them to fight an age-old battle that is now being recognized as a source of oppression for too many, too long...they work together to free themselves and come to the realization that we live on one Earth together as one people.

Did you know that two Saudi Arabian women were arrested recently simply for driving a car?  I paint this for them and for all women living in war and fighting for their rights.
Let there be peace on Earth!

Wonderful! I always enjoy looking at work in progress. :) It's sad about the arrest of arabian women. It makes you thankful to live in a country that doesn't limit women like that.

Carrie...this has to be your best one yet. I am in love with this painting. So much symbolism and meaning. I feel so sorry for those women in those man-ruled, oppressive lands.

Us women must stick together! I love how you empower women!

Blessings to you!
