Birth of a Mother

"The hours I spend with you I look upon as sort of a perfumed garden, a dim twilight, and a fountain singing to it.  You and you alone make me feel that I am alive.  Other men it is said have seen angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough."

~George Moore (1852-1933)

Beautiful work! The poem is very sweet. I love everyone's different take on these challenges. Yours is powerful. From the very beginning when a mother starts forming the bond with her child.

Your banner is gorgeous! I am off to peruse your blog. I will be your newest follower. Such talent!

Such a beautiful painting! Excellent work. So much to see. It is TRULY stunning!
Thanks! This painting is large...36 x 36 inches, and I painted it when I was pregnant, so it has all of that good mama energy in it :)

This painting is also my triumph after suffering many years of miscarriages until two little ones finally blessed my life....hard work, but worth the effort :) I guess that's why I painted it big and bold, to say "I finally did it!"

Thank you for all of the kind words, and thanks Tammy for the complements on the banner....it took me a really long time to come up with the right design, but I think it was worth all of the effort!

Gloria, much of my art is very influenced by one of my fave artists, Frida Kahlo...the way that she communicated her pain and her honest look at herself took more courage than most artists have, yet this honesty is what endears her work to so many...

Can't wait to visit and see all of your lovely works! Today is my son's birthday, but I'll be checking in the next few days...

Happy weekend!

A stunning and powerful painting. Great Work with emotion. Well Done! ;)
WOW, I am always in awe of your talent, but this one REALLY blows me away. It is so powerful- stunning. I LOVE the way you combined realism with a surreal quality and the words you chose to accompany your work are stunning as well. I'm sorry that my words can't express how I feel about this piece, so I'll just go back to my lame "WOW"!

Fabulous and very intruiging work - I love how the baby doesn't have features, as if he/she is still forming an identity.
