Paint Party Friday!

Welcome to Paint Party Friday, and welcome to my little studio in the woods!!  I am excited and honored to participate in this weekly fiesta and meet other artists who share my love of painting. We are so fortunate to have the technology to connect with each other without having to leave the studio!

My focus for this blog party will be to paint these wood boards that I salvaged from a construction job.  I am undecided as to what I will be painting on them, but I am sure that the Paint Party Friday will be the perfect place to let the mystery unfold!  I would love to somehow tie them all together to make a massive painting or to tell a story.  We shall see......

Another goal is to finally complete my Western Screech Owl Painting.  Those of you familiar with my blog know that I have grown dissatisfied with the background of the painting, causing me to repaint and repaint.  I will, with the encouragement of this Blog Party, overcome my artistic obsessiveness and finally put the owl to rest (for the complete owl story, see The Drawing Table: Time for a Change and The Drawing Table: Western Screech Owl).

I am super excited to get together with other artists from around the world who share my passion for painting, and I am grateful to have the chance to inspire and encourage each other for the simple joy of Creating Art.  I bid you continued inspiration and creativity as we mingle at the Paint Party, and be sure to stop by all of the fabulous artists' studios participating in this event.  See you next Friday!

Oh I am looking forward to this. I have a lot of wood also that I've been meaning to get to but it sits waiting. Look forward to seeing your work. I think your owl is just beautiful. They are very beautiful creatures. We always get one in our yard. I hear it making it's noise and wonder where it's at. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Thanks and nice to meet you.

I read your other owl posts and can honestly say I looooove it the way it is!!! I say leave it... I love the blood red border and the composition and the bright moon in the corner... it's wonderful! (I also enjoyed reading about how it came to be in the first place - a very interesting story)

You have such a great style - I can't wait to see what beauties you turn those boards into...

Thanks for joining the party :)

Your boards will make great canvases. I know what you mean about repainting a background. I did a trio of tigers and repainted the background four times till I was satisfied! :0)

Hi Carrie, love the owl and love that you are going to bring those boards to life with new paintings.. love your work.. oh and those redwoods.. magnificent.... glad to meet you,,

Wow, those wood panels are going to be quite a project! Can't wait to see what you decide to do with them. I like the new background on your owl painting, but I also really like the in between stage with the black background. You wouldn't want to leave it solid black, but I think a simple dark background with some slightly lighter areas would really show the owl off properly. He looks great and should take center stage. JMHO, of course!

Love your idea of using the boards for your paintings. Can't wait to see them. Happy PPF!
Wow! I've never had so many comments before!! First of all, a big heart-felt THANK YOU to all of you lovely creatives visiting my space.

@Anne...thanks and I love your blog and the story behind the name.

@Victoria...thanks for the encouragement, the boards will be fun

@Nelly...Thanks for looking around, and thanks for the appreciation

@La Abela..Love your blog, and thanks for stopping by

@Gloria...I've had this wood for a while, and needed the extra push to finally do something with them. I love owls. How fortunate to have one in your yard!

@Annabelle...Another thing that we have in common--a love of owls! Love your blog and diverse talents!

@Eva...thanks for being such a gracious hostess and creating such a fun space to share our art.

@Heather...Yay! Another owl lover! Thanks for the kind words, and I am looking forward to seeing what you create as well...

@Marlene...so happy to meet you, thanks for the input on the owl

@Kristin...thank you so much for checking out the owl and for hosting this party. I wish I had all of you as the voice of reason before I repainted the last time :)

@Christine...thanks!

@Deanna...the mystery of the boards will be fun to share, fed by the inspiration of all of these artists!
@Lynn...I would love to see your tigers! I think all artists have that one painting that they seem to obsess over to get just right.

@Catherine...thanks, and I know, the redwoods...the best neighbors an artist can have..full of inspiration!

@Melisa...The black background is where I am at right now. My father is an artist and he agrees with you about keeping the background dark to let the owl's eyes really pop.

@Pam...thanks! I have been staring at these boards for a while, and am excited to be motivated by the Paint Party to finally do something with them!

Move over everyone....I like it here too. I love the Owl and if you had not said anything I would have thought it was finished. I am another owl collector and am so fortunate to have a resident owl on our property. I love to hear him talking to me in the warm evenings of summer.

Wow, that owl is popping out at me! It's gorgeous. Fine work here, amiguita. I'm thoroughly enjoing the party and looking forward to seeing what other creative tricks you have up your sleeve. I haven't tried painting on wooden boards yet, but you may be just the person to inspire me to experiment with what I have in the shed! :)

Que pases un buen fin de semana. Nos vemos el viernes que viene...si no antes.
