Paint Party Friday, Part 2 (WIP)
Welcome back to the Paint Party Friday! Here is a peek at my work-in-progress, painted on 3 recycled wood boards using acrylic paint.
I love to paint from my soul, whatever my spirit wishes to communicate. My paintings speak for my inner vision in a way I could not do with mere words. My art is my true voice.
I spend time with the blank canvas as if in meditation, and the images reveal themselves. My art is like prayer, a direct link with those parts of us that are mostly inaccessible in today's busy world.
I pour color onto the blankness, spreading a palette of infinite possibilities until the vision is revealed.
In this way art is able to transcend all boundaries, both physically and metaphysically.
For this painting, I wanted to convey the love, unity and peace of women in honor of Women's Herstory Month in March. At first, there was a woman's figure in the center, representing feminine spiritual consciousness.
I started with some sketches....
I don't know why I sketch first, because I always throw the paint on and have to remember how the image was laid out. I am an intuitive painter.
Layers of colors blend to create a 2-dimensional glimpse of an inner reality.
In light of Egypt's recent revolution and the uprisings occurring all over the region, I decided to change the woman in the center to a pyramid, and bring into the painting all of the symbolism that pyramids represent.
Women are the preservers of culture and tradition; women are the foundation of family and thus unity of all; women embrace love and peace as a natural state of living. Women give birth to life. Women are Creation. Women have the power to create a peaceful world.
How will this painting evolve?
We shall see next week as the Paint Party Friday continues....
Have an inspired weekend!
