Paint Party Friday, Part 2 (WIP)

Welcome back to the Paint Party Friday!  Here is a peek at my work-in-progress, painted on 3 recycled wood boards using acrylic paint.

I love to paint from my soul, whatever my spirit wishes to communicate.  My paintings speak for my inner vision in a way I could not do with mere words.  My art is my true voice.

I spend time with the blank canvas as if in meditation, and the images reveal themselves.  My art is like prayer, a direct link with those parts of us that are mostly inaccessible in today's busy world.

I pour color onto the blankness, spreading a palette of infinite possibilities until the vision is revealed.

In this way art is able to transcend all boundaries, both physically and metaphysically.

For this painting, I wanted to convey the love, unity and peace of women in honor of Women's Herstory Month in March.  At first, there was a woman's figure in the center, representing feminine spiritual consciousness.

I started with some sketches....

I don't know why I sketch first, because I always throw the paint on and have to remember how  the image was laid out.  I am an intuitive painter.

Layers of colors blend to create a 2-dimensional glimpse of an inner reality.

In light of Egypt's recent revolution and the uprisings occurring all over the region, I decided to change the woman in the center to a pyramid, and bring into the painting all of the symbolism that pyramids represent.

Women are the preservers of culture and tradition; women are the foundation of family and thus unity of all; women embrace love and peace as a natural state of living.  Women give birth to life.  Women are Creation.  Women have the power to create a peaceful world.

How will this painting evolve?
We shall see next week as the Paint Party Friday continues....
Have an inspired weekend!

I love this triptych, not just the colors, texture and beauty of the painting, but the sentiment. This is a truly beautiful piece. Typing this comment, I went to spell piece- peace. I think it was subliminal as the faces of the figures look so peaceful. Wonderful!

I love that you use boards and I love that you showed your process! It's always inspiring to me to see how other people create. I alway say this because I truly believe it, it's not always about the end result, it's about the process!

A deep and spiritual artwork. You have such a compassionate artist soul!

Enjoy the WIP as I'm just leaning how to paint (using acrylic), so it is nice to see how other artists build up their work from 1st layer.

Love to see the completed work! Thank you for sharing. ;)

Visiting you this morning and viewing your painting and the process you took to get to where it is today was like a spiritual experience. Seriously, I go away feeling a little empowered over here (..."I am woman, hear me roooaaarrr...!"). :)

Beautiful job and theme! Love the pyramid idea and the beauties on the side, and btw, that hand on the left turned out AMAZING! So glad you're part of the party; you bring a lot of soul to the mix.

Very beautiful piece. Wow, how long did it take you? I agree with Nelly, the sentiment is great! Thanks for stopping by to visit me too. :-)
I don't even know how to respond to all the loveliness you have all left here, so I will just say that you all are the wind beneath my creative wings! I am so very inspired by each and every one of you, and I am honored to be surrounded by so many others who share my passion for creating art. May we blossom and grow like flowers in spring, and may we never stop creating art from the soul :)
This is amazing- I love how you stylized the faces at the time keeping them realistic- absolutely STUNNING!
Happy PPF- a day late ;)
