Welcome to My Vintage-Inspired Booth!

Welcome to my Art Festival Booth!

This past weekend was the Benbow Summer Arts and Music Festival where I had my Cara Mia Bella Gallery and Booth-tique.  I was given a prime location on the main fairway, so I knew I would have to design my best booth yet to help me stand out from the other 149 vendors.

10 x 10 feet isn't a lot of space to work with, and I noticed in previous years that people hesitated to come into a booth that was crowded and confined.  So, I opted to pay a little bit more for a corner booth which allowed for better traffic flow and increased visibility.

When it comes to art booths, most people like to browse without feeling obligated...my biggest sales have not been at festivals but as a result of vending at a festival.  My improved layout allowed this, and I found an exponential increase in traffic flow.  Location is everything, but when you add a booth that is open, inviting, unique, and esthetically pleasing, you can't go wrong.

Because first impressions are vital to a booth's success, I recommend a well-thought out design plan.  I have a large collection of antique drawers and doors that I salvaged, so I decided to use them as displays and create a vintage motif. The wood tones complement my paintings perfectly.  Plus, they make excellent conversation starters, helping put customers at ease.  The vintage display also reflects my, the artist's, character and personality, giving customers an insight into what inspires me to paint.  I also wear clothing that is professional and unique with vintage and retro flair to complement my booth and art.

What are my favorite tips to improve traffic flow to your booth and be unique enough to stand apart from the crowd?

Tips for a Stand-Out Successful Booth

Tip #1
Create a design theme for your booth.  This will make your booth
look more professional and not distract from your products.

Tip #2
Make your booth open and inviting.  Create a pathway
through your booth that allows people to flow through easily.

Tip #3
Print your signs so they all appear similar and complement the booth rather than distracting from your products.  Try to hang them in the same location for each display.

Tip #4
Group like items together to create congruity.  Organization will make it easier for your customers to find what they're looking for.

Tip #5
Choose fabrics and display colors that complement your products.  I use brown, cream and gold mixed with lots of wooden drawers and doors for a rustic, vintage vibe that beautifully complements my paintings and artwork.

Tip #6
The best thing you can decorate your booth with is your smile!  Be warm, open, and inviting.  Smile and greet everyone.  Start friendly conversation to engage people.  Meeting the artist behind the artwork can add to a customer's experience, and this first impression can either make or break the deal.
Give it your all!

Wishing you shining success!
