The Journeyman Returns

The Tuareg Tribesman journeyed back into the studio for some changes.

At first, I had painted him exactly as the photograph depicted him, holding a cigarette in his hand.  Here's what the acrylic painting looked like before...

However, the hand holding the cigarette didn't look right (is he giving us the middle finger?!).  So I blacked out his hand.

It was so challenging matching the skin tone colors the way they were before.

I modeled my own hand for reference.

It was challenging matching the background as well.  But as it turns out, the sky came out better than the original, with a little more boldness to make the tribesman really pop.

The painting is complete and will be made into limited edition prints next week.

Thanks for visiting the studio!
